Dr. Valantas has been at Internal Medicine Associates LLC since 2004. *He has retired from Internal Medicine Associates as of April 1, 2021.*

Michael Valantas, DO has been practicing Gastroenterology in Alaska for 16 years.

Originally from Alaska, Dr. Valantas attended Osteopathic Medical School at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. From there, he attended Internal Medicine Residency at Internal Medicine Spokane, and completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship program at the University of South Alabama. He is also a fellow in the American College of Gastroenterology. 

He always knew he wanted to help people. After graduating from college, excelling in biology, Dr. Valantas realized he wanted to dedicate himself to the study of medicine. He values listening to his patients and spending the time necessary to truly understand their situation and needs. 

A few fun facts about Dr. Valantas: He has completed ten mountain marathons in Seward, is very involved in crossfit (during COVID19 he was regularly seen motivating the clinical team with quick workout activities), he is an avid sports fan – with his favorite team being the New Orleans Saints (he even named his dog after Drew Brees). Dr. Valantas and Dr. Ingle are regularly observed to be debating “whose team is better.” In his free time, Dr. Valantas enjoys spending time with family, hiking, going to the gym, and traveling.
