Dr. Praveen Roy has been at Internal Medicine Associates LLC since 2020.

Having recently moved from New Mexico, Praveen Roy, MD is the newest physician to join us at Internal Medicine Associates. We are so excited to welcome him to the team, as he brings with him not just a substantial educational and postgraduate training background, but years of experience in this field. Dr. Roy is both ERCP and EUS trained and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Clinical Research. He readily demonstrates his commitment to continued learning, research, and quality patient care outcomes. 

Dr. Roy received his MD from the University of Jos, Nigeria. From there, he completed a transitional year Residency program at Frankford Hospital, and then went on to complete an Internal Medicine Residency program at East Carolina University School of Medicine. He completed his Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at Georgetown University / National Institutes of Health and his Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at Ochsner Clinic. 

He is very active in publishing outcomes based gastroenterology research. Dr. Roy has presented more than twenty papers at different gastroenterology scientific meetings over the last five years. In October of 2019, one of those publications was selected for the American College of Gastroenterology Presidential Award. Dr. Roy also serves as a Chief Editor for Medscape Gastroenterology (Drugs and Diseases). He has also been an adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of New Mexico for several years. He has also been listed as one of the top docs by Albuquerque Magazine in NM for almost ten years.


Dr. Roy has Special expertise in EUS/ERCP and pancreato-biliary disorders.


He decided to go into medicine in high school. He was intrigued by the science of medicine. As a high school student, he read about Dr. Alexander Fleming’s discovery of penicillin and its huge impact on the world.


The best advice he’s ever received is that family is very important. Throughout the years, many of his patients have reminded him of this on a regular basis. At every encounter, Dr. Roy’s main priority is to provide evidence based, patient focused care. He is very excited at the privilege of serving the Alaskan community.

A few fun facts about Dr. Roy: he enjoys cycling, hiking, traveling, exploring the outdoors, photography, spending time with his family, and poetry. He has also lived on three different continents.
